The Best Warm Up Soccer Drill For Beginner Soccer Teams

As a team it is important to warm up the right way. If not, unecessary injuries could occur during the game. Along with this, warm ups should have players relaxed before their soccer game or practice.

Lets go through a combination of warms up without the ball and with the ball, that beginner teams can do before games and practices.

With Out The Ball
Split your team in half, and set up two lines next to each other. Decide how far you want to travel for each exercise whether it be 4 metres or 10 metres.

Once you’ve figured out the distance your team should follow the following exercises:

1. Jog x2
2. High Knees x2
3. Butt Kicks x2
4. Lunges x2
5. Sprints x2

After performing an exercise once going forward, you turn around and do it again. Once an exercise is done twice, your team should start a new one.

Players on the left should turn to their left when turning around and players on the right should turn to their right when turning around.

As you can see in the image above the arrows show where players should be turning.

With The Ball
Alright, so you've now done warm up without the ball and are ready to use the ball. First stay split as a team and each group of players should make a circle with one person in the middle.

Monkey In The Middle
One person will go in the middle of the circle and their should be one ball per group. Players making the circle should pass the ball around, staying in their positions and keeping the ball away from the guy in the middle.

Once the player in the middle gets the ball, someone else will now go in the middle.

This is a fun, yet good warm up drill because it gets your first touch sharp. Not only this, but it helps defending and helps players break a little sweat.

Players in the circle should stay in their positions and the circle should get no bigger or smaller then it already is.

These drills are great for beginners because it keeps things simple and gives players are more relaxed atmosphere before practise and games.
